Finally Guy Bridge has gotten the breakthrough taking an impressive win at the recent Hydrofoil Pro Tour/ Festikite in France.
it looks like the Bridge family had a very productive start to 2018 developing kites with Flysurfer and a stellar team result with both Bridge brothers on the podium in Mexico! Tell us about 2018 so far.
GB: Yeah it’s been pretty good. Since the start of the year we started developing these new VMG kites with Benni Boelli, and in Mexico used some prototypes for the first time and think it was clear to see the massive progressions that were made to the kites, with me and Olly finishing on the Podium. Since then the kites have been finalised and it is clear to see how well they are working.
Guy, how does it feel beating the World Champion and Vice World Champion at the recent Hydrofoil Pro Tour event in France?
GB: Yeah it feels good because Nico’s kind of been untouchable over the past year or so, so to be up there with him is exciting for the rest of the year.
What was the strategy for this years Hydrofoil Pro Tour in France racing in the most competitive and fastest fleet to date?
GB: There wasn’t a lot of strategy to be honest because coming into the event I always felt I had good equipment, so I felt that hopefully I had enough speed to get away from most people, and with the event being quite a light wind regatta I always felt that having clean air was very important especially at the starts.
Guy, you wear the yellow jersey now coming into the USA event which is one of the toughest places to race against an incredible fast fleet including locals Johnny Heineken and Joey Pasquali.
GB: Yes I think Olly and myself are on joint points, so coming into that event it will be tough because the San Francisco locals are obviously going to be very good on home water as well as Nico who has been prolific there over the past few years, and having never been to San Francisco before it will be a good challenge for me.
